Why is this useful?

Whether you are launching a big budget marketing campaign or designing posters to advertise your event, getting organized input from a large sample of third-party outsiders can mean the difference between success and failure. Large corporations always conduct market research before their ad campaigns. Now you can too, at a fraction of the cost.

Save Money

By cutting out the middlemen (telemarketers, data analysis companies etc.) and leveraging recent technological advances, we can drasticatically reduce the cost of running market research studies, and pass those savings on to you. Markiter is orders of magnitude more cost effective than traditional market research, while still being able to provide you with more respondents than regular focus groups.

Real-time results and data analysis

During the course of your comparison, you can see the latest results and comments from your respondents. No more waiting for the entire comparison to finish before seeing the results. The Results Dashboard helps make understanding the results easier by breaking down the data. The results of your comparison are also exportable so you can run your own analysis on all the data collected.

We do the hard work

We find the people to answer your questions and provide feedback. And we provide the results in easy to understand graphs and charts. No more chasing people to answer your questions, and no more forcing your customers to become frustrated with long surveys. You focus on your core competency, and we'll focus on ours.

How does it work?

You fill out a quick form to create a comparison. You can include more than 2 options if you'd like
We find people on your behalf to vote and add their feedback. Voters are not shown all the options in your campaign. Instead, to get more granular and detailed results, they are shown 2 random options to vote on.
We keep you posted on the results, and let you know when the campaign is complete.
You come back to view your results. Your results are broken down into total votes, total percentages as well as head to head comparisons for each pair of options. As each voter is shown 2 options, it's important to see how each option fared against each other.

Where do you find the voters for my campaign?

We primarily engage voters through Amazon's Mechanical Turk system. An independent study was completed by Enrique Andres Ferraro from the University of Liverpool. He compared the survey responses of 1500 Mechanical Turk workers to the 2000 US Census and found that the Mechanical Turk population closely matched that of the general US population. He further concluded that the Mechanical Turk population would be perfect for market research due to it's diversity in population. Check out the Markiter blog post for a closer look at Amazon's Mechanical Turk.

When should I use?

Here are some situations where Markiter could help:
  • Posters: Need to promote an event? Find out which types of people liked which version of your posters. Incorporate their feedback to maximize your success rate.
  • Flyers: Have a sale? Find out what information is important to respondents so you can attract more people, and make more sales.
  • Demo Videos: Understand what was helpful, and what was not in your demo video before you release it to the world.
  • Banner Ads: Find out which ads appeal more to people to maximize your click-through rates.
  • TV Ads: Get feedback on your TV ads before spending your money on air time
  • Logos: Is your logo professional enough? Does it convey the right message? Find out!

What are the features of Markiter?

There are numerous features to Markiter. Here are some of them:
  • Compare rich media: text, images, or video can be used for testing.
  • Embeddable widget: put the widget on your own site to poll our own customers if you'd like.
  • Customizable widget: change the look and feel of the widget to suit your needs
  • Smart widget: if you have more than 2 options in your campaign, Markiter will rotate through each pair of options for different voters. We ensure that each pair of options are voted on the same number of times to get consistent results. We do not show all the options to the voter because we believe it severely hinders the voter from providing constructive feedback. It is much easier for a voter to focus on the details of two options than it is for five options. The Markiter voting widget will also alternate the order that options are presented to be completely fair.
  • Simple Results Dashboard: a suite of easy to understand charts and graphs outlining the results of your campaign.
  • Downloadable Results: export the data in .csv format to run your own analysis on the results.
  • Leverage Voter Demographic Data: voter results are broken down into age, gender and location to allow you to understand how different groups of people responded to your campaign.
  • Fast Responses: Complete your campaign in days, not the weeks required for traditional market research studies.
  • Fast Analysis: Analysis is done throughout the campaign, so you can always see up-to-date results.
  • Not just votes, but comments too: Get comments from voters so you don't just understand how they voted, but why they voted that way.
